YouWorkForce PUBLIC TRANSIT: public transit management software
In order to offer the community an efficient and satisfactory service, public transport companies must be able to coordinate urban and suburban bus routes in a timely manner, trying to predict any delays caused by detours or work in progress, as well as waiting times at red traffic lights. This is a real challenge, which requires, therefore, cutting-edge tools able to better manage every aspect of the transport activity: the creation of a timetable for trips, tracking to keep the user updated on the arrival of the bus, and much more. This is precisely why a leading company in this sector relied on YouCo: to improve the management of public transport, offering users a timely and efficient service.
The client of YouCo in the public transport sector is a municipal company located in Veneto, specialized in urban transport through traditional buses and GPL. In this regard, it is one of the first companies in Italy that invested in low environmental impact vehicles. A great need of the company was the management of permits, holidays and shifts of the numerous drivers, to avoid solving issues at the last minute. YouWorkForce fully satisfied this need and improved many other aspects of the overall activity.
How did the activity of the public freight company improve thanks to YouWorkForce?
YouWorkForce was introduced into the public freight company with the aim of improving both the management of the bus trips and all the activities that take place within the headquarters. Thanks to YouCo’s system, it is now possible to geo-localize all the vehicles in operation and monitor the routes covered. All this in real time and through a cartographic desktop.
Obviously, it is not possible to predict an accident and, consequently, a more or less significant delay in public transport. It is for this reason that YouWorkForce decided to improve the interaction with the final client, that is the passenger. Thanks to real-time geo-location, the user can now monitor the progress of the bus on the trip minute by minute and see any delays. This allowed the company to take action against any possible complaint: the passenger is informed that the bus is late due to an accident or a detour and, thanks to the calculation of the new arrival time, the company can carry out other activities while waiting.
In order to make the various activities of the headquarters’ operators as effective as possible, the possibility was introduced for drivers to specify the start and end of their shifts using the mobile clocking in/out. Also from the same device, holidays and permits can be requested: in this way the attendance book is continuously updated and there is no risk, especially on days with a lot of traffic, of having little availability of drivers. Finally, thanks to the public transport management software, it is possible to assign a specific vehicle to each driver from the operational center.
YouCo created a complete strategy to improve the management of the activities of this particular company in public transport: it allowed the headquarters to be constantly informed about their vehicles, keeping them monitored. Drivers were able to start using a valid tool to request days off and shift changes. Finally, citizens can now use an app that informs them in real time of any delays or issues with the buses.
