What is Mobile Device Management (MDM)?
Mobile Device Management (MDM), or management of mobile device, is a technological solution that enables remote management of the life-cycle of mobile devices and their platforms.
Through MDM services it will be possible to provide operators and contractors with secure devices to communicate, exchange data and organize operational activities.
What is EMM used for?
This branch of Enterprise Mobile Management deals specifically with the management of the fleet of corporate devices, monitoring their use by operators and deals with methods of exchanging sensitive data.
The primary functions that a Mobile Device Management system must perform consist of simplifying the configuration of devices when they are activated for the first time and ensuring that the use of devices always complies with company policies, especially with regard to the management of potentially confidential data and documents.
The Advantages of Mobile Device Management
Safety, in fact, is the keystone on which the whole system is based.
Every work device can be managed and controlled remotely: in this way it is possible to block some features, such as access to the device in case of emergency or provide troubleshooting tools.
One feature of MDM is to allow two diametrically opposed parts to coexist on the device: the personal one and the corporate one.
The personal area, consisting of the employee’s personal information and applications, will not interfere with the company area, which instead will be protected and totally separated from the first one.
No corporate data can be compromised by careless actions taken by the employee during the use of the personal section. In the same way, the company will not be able to take possession of the employee’s personal data during the use of the device in private mode. In this way, both parties are protected, also from a GDPR point of view, by complying with the principles of data minimization, integrity and confidentiality.
