Overview

ESH Care is a smartphone and tablet app (available in 9 languages) that helps hypertensive patients keep their blood pressure values under control and fight hypertension by collaborating better with their doctor, as well as helping in prevention for those who do not suffer from this condition.

The product has been certified by two authoritative scientific societies: the Italian Society of Arterial Hypertension (SIIA) in partnership with the European Society of Hypertension (ESH).

YouCo has also developed a platform for managing and coordinating home and territorial activities, which also translate into Homecare. A single system combines capabilities such as optimization of ADI, SAD, attendance, nursing services, social health services, and home therapies.

ESH Care is based on an innovative principle: the understanding between patient and doctor, which allows distilling the most ‘practical’ functionalities, as well as having a back-end database for both private use by the end user and for scientific use (in anonymous form), contributing to the collection of Big Data in the scientific auxological field, necessary to study populations affected by this pathology.

  • extension into a framework that will allow monitoring and cross-referencing data on patient’s blood pressure, diet, and lifestyle.

The app also has an educational purpose as it illustrates the most correct lifestyles to prevent and combat hypertension and the consequences for those who underestimate it.

User Experience

To arrive at the current interface, usability tests were carried out, including one using the ‘Think aloud protocol’ methodology.

Seven users unfamiliar with the app were taken and asked to perform 5 tasks; data and observations were recorded to identify problems and solve them, bringing these improvements to the new interface.
