Overview
The “CV-PREVITAL, Primary Cardiovascular Prevention Strategies in the Italian Population” project was born with an extraordinarily important public health objective: to develop and scientifically validate, for the first time in Italy, a primary cardiovascular prevention model based on the use of digital technologies.
Promoted and funded with 10 million euros by the Ministry of Health and noted for its relevance “within the PNRS 2020-2022, the project falls within” the scope of digital health (e-Health), already the third largest industry in the European healthcare sector, after pharmaceuticals and medical device manufacturing.
In addition to the lead institute, Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCCS (Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare), 14 other IRCCS institutes affiliated with the Cardiological Network, about 200 general practitioners associated with the Health Consortium (CoS), and 200 pharmacies associated with the territorial branches of Federfarma Lombardia contributed to the realization of CV-PREVITAL.
YouCo’s role and the mobile health application
YouCo, a Mobility Solution Provider expert in innovative digital projects and winner of the European tender, was assigned the task of creating the CV-PREVITAL Mobile Health (m-Health) application, a cornerstone of the entire project.
In the first phase of the project, the “application will accompany 80,000 subjects in primary prevention for the duration of one year, providing them with advice and indications on cardiovascular risk factors, as well as serving as a diary and reminder for the” user.
The collected data will allow researchers to verify if and how the risk factors of the study participants have changed and to implement personalized educational programs, aimed at modifying “unhealthy” lifestyles to increase the years of “healthy life”.
Design thinking
A design methodology that ensures the best synergy between the skills involved and the full usability of the application.
Development and system integration
We have created an APP with advanced features capable of communicating with all the technological platforms involved in the project.
Gamification
We have implemented a gamification section to maximize the engagement of study participants and incentivize “virtuous” behaviors.
Content creation
We have utilized an approach that emotionally engages the end user, actively involving them in the use of the app, in order to increase adherence to the prevention campaign and contribute as much as possible to data collection for scientific research.
It is necessary to provide people not only with the tools but also the motivation to consistently apply themselves to the difficult task of prevention.
Digital medicine can be a very effective tool for better communication between doctor and patient, to provide information to the citizen even before they become a patient, that is, for prevention. CV-PREVITAL has this purpose: to create and make available to those who engage in this journey tools and mechanisms that can help them, stimulate them, and encourage them to actively participate in this battle for their own future health.
The cornerstone of the Project is an APP, specially created by the specialized company YouCo
