The user-focused approach to innovation

Design Thinking

Overview

We use creative methodologies from design to identify opportunities, requirements, technological solutions, and project designs for the success of companies and institutions.

Every YouCo project starts with Design Thinking. This is a creative design method that brings together multiple professionals, aiming to solve problems and identify innovative solutions for various business aspects. Unlike the classic approach, characterized by problem > idea > solution, Design Thinking focuses on the user and satisfying their needs. This creative process is therefore based on creating value for the user, not merely on the need to solve a problem.

The process that characterizes Design Thinking is divided into 5 phases:

Empathize

The first phase of the Design Thinking process involves creating a strong connection with the user, immersing oneself in their specific reality. This way, it’s possible to fully understand their needs and requirements and what the actual problem to be solved is;

Define

Once the development team has entered the user’s reality and understood their needs, they define which direction to take: what are the actual needs to be met or what is the real problem to be solved;

Ideate

After acquiring preliminary information, the project foundations are laid. An exchange of ideas and evaluations begins, leading to the definition of the prototype;

Prototype

At this point, the prototype is created. This phase serves to make an idea tangible and visible, in order to understand its value. Moreover, thanks to the prototype, the development team can understand which aspects to maintain, which to eliminate, and which to implement;

Test

The testing phase, instead, involves putting the prototype into operation and analyzing its response, to identify and correct any anomalies. From here, we then arrive at the final solution, created to measure.

Workshop

In addition to using the Design Thinking technique internally, YouCo offers participatory design processes that directly involve the client or groups of users. These are structured in workshops, where the digital team and the client work together, using canvases and creative supports, to develop the solution most in line with the real needs expressed. In particular, the workshop serves to outline the “personas”, i.e., the different types of users that may be of interest to the company, and the User Journey, that is, the user paths.
