Overview
The site is the result of a graphic restyling, a new content architecture, a simple and intuitive user experience, particularly in the navigation menus, and usable interaction methods.
These have received excellent feedback, to the point of being reused effectively in other web projects for Public Administration. One of the portal’s strengths is represented by its functions, designed specifically to facilitate the search for information regarding municipal services and to promote citizen participation.
The design started from the “Open government” model of various European best practices. The main implemented functions all favor navigability and ease of use, starting with the schedule, which allows users to always have upcoming deadlines and initiatives highlighted, as well as save them to their online calendar, and the map of ongoing works with prohibitions, changes to traffic circulation, and available parking in the city.
Another function is navigation via tags, or “labels” or “keywords” that help describe the content and facilitate information search with search engines. The internal pages describe all the services, with usage methods and contact information. There are also interactive maps where the main places and points of interest in the city are displayed, along with directions on how to reach them.
The forms have been largely transformed into online forms, making it possible to fill them out directly on the website. Social functions for sharing and participation have also been implemented, starting with the prominence given to the link that leads to the live streaming of Council sessions. With the new portal, it is also possible to send reports and proposals, even attaching photos or documents, and provide feedback on information and services, thanks to the “Help us improve” function.
