Overview
A systematic and ongoing process of IT digitalization, which began in 2015, allows BigMat to harness the full power of cloud, big data, and mobility as a strategic engine for development.
This is the objective of the innovation technology project that YouCo has developed for BigMat, the leading Group in Italy of independent distributors of materials for building, renovating, and renewing homes, now present nationwide with 170 Points of Sale.
The first step involved the creation of a unified information system for sharing all Group data: products, agreements, contracts, information on purchases, sales, and attachments.
The implementation of BigData, which has usability as its strong point (responsive, mobile app, ease of use, etc.), has allowed BigMat to have a single data source for internal and external communication systems and for work and planning tools.
This is the starting point that enabled the development of the Intranet, the web portal, and the member sites.
The second step of the project focused on the user experience of BigMat’s web portal. The months following the website’s publication were crucial for understanding user navigation patterns and any issues encountered, as well as serving as a starting point for improving the portal’s user experience. Thanks to the heuristic analysis carried out, it was possible to implement a navigation restyling for both the portal and the member sites.
This activity resulted in a web portal capable of enhancing not only BigMat but also all 170 points of sale directly accessible from it.
